Why infamous is better than prototype
Booting up Prototype The combat was really mashy, alot of the powers felt useless, those hunter dudes were a pain in the arse, you could kill countless civilians without feeling any kind of remorse.
It's sole redeeming factor for me, was the Web of Intrigue But alas I sent it back before finishing it. The best parts about Prototype were the parts where you weren't playing Prototype. So you dudes who really dug Prototype especially those of you who also played inFamous Prototype had constant action and fighting. You could not go far without a bloody fight. And it was in NY which some might like because it is a real place. I liked Infamous more by the way. So much potential. The final boss sucked, too.
I could basically fly wherever I wanted. Enemies moved really fast. I personally thought Hunter fights were awesome except some jankiness in the animations. The character customization powers was great, too. I really enjoyed both games, btw, but I do think that I had more fun with Prototype overall even though it felt a lot more 'gamey' and unpolished.
The big clash was before the games came out, after they were both released most people sided with InFamous Alex Mercer did not just punch or kick enemies to dispatch them. He cut, carved, bludgeoned, and ripped.
To shapeshift or heal wounds, Alex consumed NPCs—enemies, civilians, and anyone else within grabbing distance. One advantage Radical had over Sucker Punch was that Prototype's marketing team was in-house.
When a marketer or designer had an idea for a promotion, all they had to do was walk down the hall or turn around in their chair. To talk with someone at Sony, Sucker Punch developers had to send an email, pick up a phone, or board a plane. That communication gap sometimes led to a disconnect. Besides Cole's electricity-based powers and the game's comic roots, Sony latched on to Sucker Punch's concept of karma. At the PlayStation conference during E3 , a Sony executive premiered Infamous via a trailer, describing the game as a journey where the player's actions would determine whether NPCs viewed them as a hero or a villain.
While going all-in on morality was a good move in hindsight, the announcement caught Sucker Punch off-guard and forced the designers to rethink plans for their own game. But after he said it to the E3 public, we were very committed," Fox said. Infamous' karma system did more than steer players down one narrative or another.
Leaning toward the dark side unlocks powers unavailable to players who walk the straight and narrow. Evil powers are more destructive, while good powers tend to be more precise, such as sniping. Moreover, villainous Coles regenerate life by consuming civilians; their virtuous peers have to watch out for bystanders during battles or lose karma for letting innocents get hurt or killed.
In the context of the "console war" between PS3 and Xbox , Prototype vs. Infamous stood out as an important theater: Brands battling to be the first to plant their flag in the fertile soil of open-world, superhero-themed games. While Radical and Sucker Punch put stock in traditional marketing tactics such as trailers and magazine adverts, they were also making their first forays into emerging forms of mass communication.
Radical created a Facebook page for Prototype and reached half a million followers without spending a dime on advertising. The studio borrowed another outreach strategy from Electronic Arts.
Each week leading up to the release of Dead Space , EA's team gathered questions submitted by users and posted a video of the game's executive producer answering a handful of them to social media.
Not all information dumps from Radical were planned ahead of time. At least, that's what Ansell wanted people to believe. We may have leaked this, but we may not have' tactic with press. It's great," he said, chuckling. The studios also found themselves vying for respect from Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw, who had emerged as one of the first real stars of web video criticism thanks to his acerbic video series for The Escapist.
He was one of many pundits who picked apart Infamous and Prototype leading up to their release in Yahtzee found that he preferred the story and optional missions in Infamous but preferred Prototype 's world and gameplay. Otherwise, he noted, they were nearly indistinguishable. Then, wielding both the sarcasm and the toxic sexism that were his act's trademarks, he promised to appoint a winner based on criteria equal parts extraneous and distasteful: Which developers did a better job drawing their competition's leading man in drag.
Yahtzee was amazed when Radical and Sucker Punch both submitted drawings. He decided in favor of Infamous , but just barely. To his amusement, even the images submitted by the studios were similar. As for each game's marketing team, the conversation stemming from the unintentional symbiosis between Infamous and Prototype worked to their advantage. I must say; the writer is a fantastic one.
Prototype however, does not on it's exterior seem to have much of an interesting storyline at all. The connection you should be having with the character isn't quite there, and events just seem to be unfolding with no propper introduction to them.
Prototype's storyline is actually pretty complex and interesting once you've unlocked all the web of intrigue clips, and I've come to find that Prototype actually has a more complex and interesting storyline. But it's so unfortunate, how they make you have to unlock all these web of intrigue clips to really appreciate it. I had to play prototype at least twice, to get what was going on. So Prototype's storyline is actually as a whole better than Infamous' in many ways.
But because it is not direct, I give it to Infamous! I like how he free-runs his way around, but it can be quite a tedious form of getting around. At least he has power lines and railway tracks at his disposal for quick sliding of one place to another though and can hover down an elevated point.
I like how you can re-charge his electric power off of anything conductive, but his attack abilities are too limited for me. Fighting with cole can be cool, but it's far too monotonous. While Alex Mercer Prototype is a Virus morphed into the form of a human being who's memories he is trying to re-attain. His running is quite amazing, and he can go anywhere. He can speed-run on roads while automatically jumping over cars and objects , run on walls, glide well, and zip through space over short distances.
A 4s jump to a height for Alex, is a 1min climb for Cole at best. Alex Mercer clearly is the most powerful of the two as well. Comparing the two would be like taking spiderman Cole and putting him against a Hulk and Superman combination Alex Mercer. Seriously I can't think of even one superhero character capable of defeating Alex.
I just don't see that happening, ever. So this one clearly goes to Alex Mercer! But Prototype is also quite the nice-looking game. While every aspect of Infamous' environment is destroyed. I didn't like that at all. However alot is left to do and it does have alot of replay value. But Prototype i'd say is much better. User Info: Ksag INfamous is way better so far and has a way better story than prototype and no it will not take six hours to beat and to those of you that say you have beaten infamous in under eight hours, you guys need to get out more!!
User Info: shadowshrend4. That being said there is no comparison in gameplay. Prototype is more of a challange as well as more fun. The both games aren't the same infamous is a different story and prototype is different, but the two games is very nice.
I like the story of infamous even though i totally saw the ending coming and i liked the gameplay.. User Info: niksoh. Buy both. But, both games are well worth the money to buy. User Info: yru This game is Sci-fi action adventure and infamous is action with electricity powers. If u get the infamous demo frum psn store then that should be a good comparison.
But prototype is still better than infamous, and fun as hell!!!!!!!!!! User Info: dirtbikekid Prototype has better gameplay and replay value which in the end matter the most.
Most of the stuff within could probably have been left out. The platforming was sub-par compared to inFAMOUS, i found it hard to land on top a roof just to nap a quick landmark in a rush.
Story wise it was interesting and the ending was very good though i wont spoil anything. I didnt really feel the whole "Ultamate bad ass" that Alex was said to be, and i didnt get involved in much of the character development till the end a little.
Thier were to many open ends in the story were as inFamous was great all the way through. User Info: HatredEdge. Infamous is ok game but prototype is much better.
You can have many more diffrent powers instead of having to stick with electricity and the graphics are very cloose between the two but prototype would win if you compared them.
I dont know if you like games with alot of blood and gore but if you do prototype has alot. The story line in prototype is better to me but i know some people who like the story line in infamous. If you like stories about cities going to hell get prototype User Info: prototypeking Sign Up for free or Log In if you already have an account to be able to ask and answer questions.
